About me

Hello, I'm Lola Cavanilles, a multifaceted artist, interior and flower designer and mother of four wonderful children. I come from a very artistic family from my mother's side.  I had the privilege of being raised in a family that encompassed a rich tapestry of talents, with musicians, artists, writers, dressmakers, and milliners all contributing their unique gifts and passions to my upbringing. I can see the influence of all my family in my work. That is why I wanted to follow their same steps adopting my grandmother's surname Loureiro as my artistic alias, but with a twist. I introduced the "U" in my name, transforming it from LOLA to LOULA.

From my father's side, my ancestor Antonio José Cavanilles was a leading taxonomic botanist of the 18th century. He was the first botanist to grow Dahlias in Europe from plant parts brought from Mexico, bestowing upon them their name. Perhaps my fondness for Dahlias, my favorite blooms, can be traced back to this ancestral connection.

After a lengthy detour in the world of finance, I decided to follow my true passions, which have always revolved around architecture, fashion, and art. My appreciation for floral design emerged later in life, catalyzed by my victorious battle against breast cancer. This life-changing experience propelled me to pursue my dreams of becoming a florist, an interior designer and an artist.

My journey as a florist is a daily endeavor to transform nature's most exquisite blooms into distinctive arrangements. Flowers, with their innate charm, have a magical ability to infuse joy and elegance into any space. I consider it a privilege to be part of crafting these moments for people.

As an interior designer, I intertwine my love for aesthetics with the creation of personalized living spaces. There's a profound satisfaction in turning a mere house into a warm, inviting home, and I relish every opportunity to craft environments that are not only beautiful but also deeply reflective of the individuals who inhabit them.

Art has always been my sanctuary for the soul. When I grasp a paintbrush or explore new artistic mediums and techniques, I become immersed in a world of colors and forms. My paintings serve as a canvas for self-expression, a means to share the beauty I perceive in the world, often influenced by my profound admiration for nature.

Residing in a culturally diverse city with an abundance of museums, galleries, fairs, theaters, and enchanting gardens is a continual wellspring of inspiration for my work. It affords me the privilege of experiencing the iconic Chelsea Flower Show—an annual highlight that allows me to immerse myself in the realm of unique floral arrangements and artistic creativity.

In all that I undertake, whether it's arranging flowers, crafting interiors, painting, or nurturing my children, I'm guided by a deep reverence for the inherent beauty in the world. It is an honor to share a glimpse of my journey with you, and I aspire to infuse your life with a touch of that enduring beauty through my work.
